  • fits KLR650A with crash bars (available in black only!)

In spite of their high-quality fit and finish, SW-Motech Skidplates offer superb protection of your KLR's vulnerable undercarriage from all manner of insults and impacts. The front mounting point of the skidplate is hinged so it can be pivoted out of the way after releasing the two rear mounting bolts, making cleaning and routine maintenance easier. Includes all mounting hardware and typically installs using only basic hand tools.

The original KLR650 skidplate from SW-Motech (KSPTT-BK) is constructed of a lighter weight 3mm-thick (1/8"-thick) aluminum and wraps around the engine block a bit to provide both bottom and side protection. Available only in black powdercoat (despite the image of the silver one above) to fit the KLR650A (1986–2007).

A later generation of KLR skidplates (KSPTT-TT) from SW-Motech features a center baseplate of silver-colored 4mm aluminum riveted to 3mm black side pieces. This two-toned design offers improved water pump protection and anti-vibration mounting hardware. This item will fit a KLR650A without crash bars or a KLR650E (2008 and up) with or without crash bars. Note that if you have an A-model KLR with crash bars, you must use the original-style skidplate.

And lastly, the skidplate designed specifically for the KLR650E (KSPTT2) is made of 4mm welded alumninum with extended protection to the rear and sides. It is compatible with the revised SW-Motech crash bars, but not the earliest version. Available in SIlver and Black.
