In spite of their high-quality fit and finish, SW-Motech Skidplates offer superb protection of your V-Strom's vulnerable undercarriage from all manner of insults and impacts. The solid center section of the baseplate has no cutouts and is constructed of 3mm silver-colored aluminum riveted to 4mm black powdercoated aluminum side pieces that wrap around the engine block a bit to provide both bottom and side protection. The front mounting point of the skidplate is hinged so it can be pivoted out of the way after releasing the two rear mounting bolts, making cleaning and routine maintenance easier. Includes all mounting hardware and typically installs using only basic hand tools.
Note that the skidplate for the first generation DL650 (2004–2011) is designed to mount to the leading edge of SW-Motech's crash bars and cannot be installed without them.
The skidplate for the second generation DL650 (2012 and up) mounts to brackets on the sides and bottom of the engine crankcase and can be used with or without SW-Motech crash bars.
Both skidplates for the 650 V-Strom are fully compatible with an SW-Motech centerstand, but using a Suzuki OEM centerstand will require your trimming 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches off the trailing edge of the skidplate.
