SW-Motech KLR650 Crash Bars are designed to provide maximum protection with an integrated, high-quality fit and finish. Constructed of heavy-duty mild steel with a tubular dimension of 27mm, these beefy bars have been sandblasted and powdercoated to protect against corrosion and feature high-strength attachment points at the forward engine mount, footpeg mount, and subframe. Note that the infamous KLR "doohickey" (engine balancer chain-tension adjuster) is accessible with the crash bars installed. Mounting hardware includes two metric M8 x 70 bolts, so you can upgrade your original subframe bolts to something considerably stronger.
These crash bars are compatible with the KLR's original plastic belly pan or SW-Motech's aluminum skidplate, among others. Consider adding a set of forward mounts and folding footpegs to give yourself some leg-stretching options for when you're slabbing it.
SW-Motech Crash Bars for the E-model KLR (2008 and up) are rubber-mounted at the forward engine mount for a smoother ride and less vibration—a nice touch, considering that even with an engine counter-balancer, the KLR is still a fairly "buzzy" bike by modern standards. Black.
