Add tremendous comfort to both your long and short rides by adding a set of MFW of Germany Crashbar Footpegs (dare we call 'em "highway pegs"?) to your tubular engine guard/crashbars.

First choose from the bolt-on or u-bolt, clamp-on style folding joint kits. If you have a 10mm hole in your crashbar system, as with the BMW F800/650GS and KLR650E models to name a few, the bolt-on style works great and costs less. This style is available in a black finish only. More commonly, choose the clamp-on (u-bolt style) footpeg joint kit which will clamp on to the crash bar tubes in the location of your choice. We use this type on our Whitehorse Gear Super 'Strom and we love 'em. This style is available in black or silver finish. Both styles are machined from high quality aluminum alloy and are real works of machine tool art.

After deciding on a folding joint kit, next choose a set of Gripmaster Pegs in black or silver finish (product code GMP) or a set of sporty Race Pegs (product code RACP) also available in a black or silver finish. See these pegs on the upper right side of this page. Any of these pegs will quickly attach to either the bolt-on or clamp-on joint kits. Although not inexpensive these kits are beautifully crafted and will probably last longer than your bike! We've bought these for our own bikes so we think you'll like them too. Especially useful if your knees are more than 17 years old.

Does your motorcycle engine have a magnetic drain plug? What? You don't know? Well you should! One of the very best things you can do for your engine and transmission is to install a quality magnetic drain plug. A magnetic drain plug is very inexpensive and takes just a few seconds to install during your next oil change. Tiny bits of ferrous metal naturally move through your oil and they may or may not end up in your oil filter. With a good oil filter and a magnetic drain plug you're thoroughly protecting your engine and transmission internals.

This plug features a metric 10mm thread with a 1.25 pitch. This is a very common metric drain plug specification. We have usd this plug on KLR 650 motorcycles and others. To see what thread diameter and pitch your bike's plug features, have a nut of the suspected thread and pitch on hand. Next time you change your oil, see if the plug fits on the nut. Then you'll know.

CAUTION:  When installing ANY new drain plug in your motorcycle engine for the first time, turn your engine over by hand for several revolutions BEFORE starting the engine to be certain the plug is not too long and possibly contacting any internal parts.

Riders of many flavors have been bolting these weatherproof canisters to their bikes, ATVs, and sleds for years. The canisters were originally designed to store the operator manuals for heavy equipment but they're perfect tool and gear tubes. Both sizes have a neoprene rubber cap seal, and rugged feet with mounting holes. These things are so simple but so useful and inexpensive.

It's easy enough to rig up a mounting solution for one or more of these on your bike. If you have luggage racks, they will often fit on the inboard side of the racks but are still accessible from the rear. We've got one set up just like that on the Whitehorse Gear DR-Z400S "woods cruiser", in which we carry essential tire changing tools and a few other useful items.

Whitehorse Gear Tech Tip:

These canisters have a small condensation drain hole. If you're mounting the canister horizontally it's probably fine to leave the hole open. In any other orientation, it's probably best to seal it up with some silicone RTV.

Also if you want to lose the silly yellow pictures showing how to open the tube, just wipe them off with a little laquer thinner on a rag. Some of us enjoy the silly industrial / agricultural look of them and leave them alone.
