KLR650 Stainless Steel Brake Lines
The KLR650E has vastly improved brakes compared to the original KLR A model. Nonetheless both versions of the KLR can benefit by upgrading the stock rubber brake lines with our braided stainless steel lines. These braided stainless lines exceed OEM pressure specifications, transfer more pressure to your calipers, and feature genuine Teflon linings.
In addition, the factory routing of the rear (E model) brake line makes a large loop. Seems to us this is bound to snag on something sooner or later. This is a situation demanding a speedy fix, in our opinion. Our rear brake line runs directly to the rear caliper, eliminating the dreaded "loop line" factor.
Lines include new crush washers. Some lines include high-grade, plated banjo bolts while others reuse the stock banjo bolts. Front and rear lines sold separately for the A model KLR (1987 to 2007) and E model KLR (2008 and up). Choose the right line(s) for your bike.
Here's another tip from the Whitehorse Gear Gadget Guy: If you are installing the front stainless steel line for the new E model KLR, it's a good idea to reuse the rubber bushing from your OEM line. Behind the left side of the lower triple clamp you'll see a shiny metal clamp holding the stock brake line in place. After you've removed the stock line, carefully cut the rubber bushing off of the OEM rubber brake hose. Slit the side of the bushing to remove it and slip it onto the new line and clamp in place. You may want to use a zip-tie on the brake line to secure it to the right side of the lower triple clamp as well.
