About Whitehorse Gear and Whitehorse Press

We love motorcycles. We love to travel. And, we especially love to travel by motorcycle. Collectively, Whitehorse staff have traveled widely by motorcycle -- all over the U.S., much of eastern Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the European Alps -- and our customers have traveled all over the world by motorcycle. For all of us, it has changed our lives. Travel makes the world a bit smaller, and there's no better way to see it and meet its people than by motorcycle. We learn that people around the world are a lot more alike than we are different.

Whitehorse founders Judy and Dan Kennedy met on a blind date -- for a motorcycle ride. Most of their vacations during the early years (the 1960s) were taken on a 750cc Royal Enfield, exploring New England. Luggage consisted of a gym bag bungied to a package rack. Accommodations were often provided by two sleeping bags and a cornfield (no tent, thanks). Riding gear included helmets, hiking boots, gloves, waterproof windbreakers, and a flannel shirt for cool days. Things have improved considerably since then -- thank goodness.

Our love of motorcycle travel is what spawned Whitehorse Press (our publishing arm), then Whitehorse Gear (our outfitting arm), and it is what drove the company since its beginning. Over the years we've published more than a hundred motorcycling books, many related to motorcycle travel, and our outfitting store is heavily oriented to the needs of motorcycle travelers. In July, 2016, we transferred rights for our most active titles to the Quarto Book Group, and we ceased publishing new books.

Whitehorse Gear StaffThere are so many roads to travel, places to explore, people to meet. Motorcycle travel can change your life, too. As tens of thousands of our customers have learned, the people of Whitehorse walk the talk, and we're here to help you find just the right things to make your riding dreams come true.
